How to Install Mods Manually for Crusader Kings 3
To install a mod for CK3 manually, you will first need to find your mod file in Documents.
Go to “%userprofile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\mod”. If you found the Crusader Kings III folder but there is no “mod” folder, just create it yourself.
Most mods you will download will be a zip file that contains a folder and a “.mod” file. If this is the case, you just need to extract the folder and the mod file (both should have the same name) into your mod folder (in Documents).
After this, just open your Paradox Launcher and enable the mod using a playlist.
How to Install Mods From Paradox Mods for Crusader Kings 3
If you download the mod from Paradox Mods, you will probably only find a folder inside the zip file. This means that you will have to make the mod file.
Players can usually find a descriptor.mod file in the mod’s folder. You can copy and paste that into your mod folder and rename the descriptor file to have the same name as the folder of the mod.
As you can see in the image above, folders and mod files have the same name.
After you move the mod file, open it using Notepad and make sure that the path is “C:/Users/User/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings III/mod/” and then the folder of the mod.
Why is the mod not working?
If the mod doesn’t work, you should check some things:
- Make sure the mod’s folder is inside “%userprofile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\mod”
- Make sure that the mod file is in “%userprofile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\mod”
- Make sure the path in the mod file is to the mod folder.
