Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Says To Sean Hannity Don’t Blame Me For Migrant ‘Stunt’

On Hanny Monday night, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis tried to deny allegations that he engaged in a stunt when he flew about 50 migrants to Martha’s Vineyard last week, instead claiming President Joe Biden pulled “the biggest stunt” by he did not follow his predecessor’s immigration policy.

While some have accused Sean Hannity, the governor of “political human trafficking,” helped DeSantis present his actions as acceptable to the general public and welcomed by the migrants themselves.

“Just for the record: That was voluntary. All migrants were placed in hotels, given shelter, fed, showered, offered haircuts and any other services that were needed, right?” asked Hannity.

“Yes,” DeSantis replied briskly. “And not only that – they signed all the consent forms. And then the salesman who does this for Florida gave them a package with a map of Martha’s Vineyard. It had the numbers of various services on Martha’s Vineyard. And then it had numbers for all the agencies in Massachusetts that handle things related to immigration and refugees. So it was voluntary. And all the other nonsense you hear just isn’t true.”

The “nonsense” DeSantis is referring to could be claims by migrants that they were transported under false pretenses. Some Democrats have also supported investigations into possible civil rights violations and kidnappings.

DeSantis pointed to the US-Mexico border to defend his decision, which Hannity and other Fox hosts had a big day with last week, as Martha’s Vineyard is a frequent destination for former President Barack Obama.

“I think we were able to show that this limit is a disaster. Biden failed at that as much or more than any other policy, and now people are talking about it,” DeSantis said, later praising former President Donald Trump’s border policies. (Trump has reportedly angered DeSantis’ move, claiming he’s trying to steal his thunder when it comes to anti-immigrant policies.)

Regarding the opposing party, DeSantis continued, “They accused the governors of Arizona, Texas and myself of political stunts in dealing with illegal immigration.”

“But the biggest stunt was when Biden came into office and reversed Trump’s policies, not because Trump’s policies weren’t working — he reversed them because he wanted to send a signal of virtue to his base and show that he thought Donald Trump was bad.” DeSantis claimed, adding that Biden knew “what was going to happen in the end.”
