They will eventually contact you as soon as possible and help you recover your character from the backend.
Alternatively, you can also try to restart your PC, log into Destiny 2 and check if the character is back.
Since we didn’t face the issues ourselves, we couldn’t confirm whether standard troubleshooting steps were working. But, as per the community and the Reddit user u/Zzephiris, basic fixes are not working.
That being said, when writing this article, Bungie has not yet officially acknowledged the issue. So it is hard to estimate how many players are affected by this Destiny 2 character deletion bug.
