The future of Roblox is coming! In the beginning of September, the Roblox Developers Conference, or RDC 2022, showed off some new technology coming to Roblox. One big change is the new addition of animated faces to capture realistic human expressions. Today, we’ll show you how to get free Roblox animated faces!
Getting the New Animated Faces in Roblox
To celebrate the launch of this new technology, Roblox has released three animated faces that you can get for absolutely free, right now! All you have to do is go to the Avatar Shop, then go to Heads, then Heads again in the drop-down menu. Here’s a direct link to the shop for your convenience.
There are three animated faces for you to get for free:
- Dylan Default
- Makeup Minimalist
- Chiseled Good Looks
Now, we know what you’re thinking—these are just the regular starting Roblox faces, aren’t they? That’s technically true, but they’re also the base for the new animated features. Once you enter an experience that supports the new animated faces, you’ll see your face animate with different expressions, if you have the new faces equipped.
If you actually examine one of the heads closely, you’ll see that it comes with three items: the head shape, the default face, and the mood faces. So, each of these three heads are actually bundles, as denoted by the little smiley face that’s winking in the bottom left corner of each head.
Going forward, all the old faces in Roblox will be now categorized under Classic Heads and Classic Faces. These two categories will have the same Roblox faces and heads that you know and love, if you ever want to stick to the basics.
Since this is still a very new feature to Roblox, these animated faces won’t work everywhere. As we mentioned, the developers needs to accommodate for them, so the animated faces will only work in certain experiences. This will change with time as more developers update their experiences.
That concludes our guide on how to get free animated faces in Roblox. What do you think of the animated faces? Will you be using them, or will you stick to the classic faces? Let us know in the comments below!
